Just before we broke for the holidays we had the opportunity to meet with the Executive Director of the Center for Powerful Public Schools, Jeanne Fauci, and the Center’s Director of Finance and Operations, Michael Key. Our mutual friends from Santa Monica Climate Action brought us together.
The Center is doing remarkable work in several areas and is supported by some well known and highly respected backers
We were there to talk specifically about their program in which they train high school students at Carson High School to conduct energy efficiency audits. Since energy efficiency efforts will one of South Bay Clean Power’s foundational elements we wanted to learn more about how we could help get more young people trained to do this important work that holds strong employment potential.
We’re already talking to kW Engineering in Long Beach, and energy efficiency engineering firm about intern possibilities. One of our SBCP Working Group members is an energy efficiency engineer with kW and has arranged for us to present our CCA initiative to their firm in the New Year. We look forward to bringing this great program for students to their attention.
